I have not heard of Craig Sicilia's Brain Injury Radio. I am still trying to figure out TBISN. It appears so disorganized to me. These radio channels frustrate me because they do not offer text/transcriptions. Limiting everything to auditory without any text/chat/IM backup is counter to the needs of many with TBI. I connect primarily with the Post Concussion Syndrome online community except for my local TBI Support Group.
Hope this finds you smiling.
Okay, I am not quite sure who at BIRC you are trying to get ahold of but Mary Doyle is out on medical leave. I would suggest that you call and speak with the out patient nurse. Sorry her name slips through the cracks of my brain. But they are excellent people willing to assist you. Okay the number let me see 321-287-5508. This is Mary Doyle number so you might have to connect with the main numbers for ORHS. Good Luck let me know how it goes. Okay what else did you need assistance with. I hope that you are able to attend the orlando brain injury support group meetings. We have our officers elections in April and I would really like to get more people involved. Look forward to communication with you. Hope you are doing good. Sincerely, Marie-Terese
Hi Maureen, Thanks for the email, I don't fully understand TBI no one does, we have had some talk about changing the name to brain injury survivors network, In time to come We will have to see what people want, thats what I wan't I want all services to be what survivors want and need not what doctor and lawyers want for us. I know there are many type of brain injuries and some last a life time, I do believe we can learn to compensate for our disabilities.
A little about me, I have been invovlved in people first www.peoplefirstofwashington.org and have worked with folks with disabilities for a while, I always have wanted what they wanted, I was involved in a movement called people first language which is now a law. We want to be seen as a person first and everything else is second. There are still people in institutions because of how funding has been, people first fought for money follows the person to get them living in the community. I believe everyone deserves equaty in life to reach their dreams what ever they may be. Every area is different with different needs,
so what kind of changes would you like to see, i dont like being called brain injured but its what it is, But i do want people to see me for me not for my injury.
I will put more thought into your email and give a better reply, I so want to learn everyones ideas and share them I think together we can change our world into a better place for everyone.
Hope all is well.
I just learned how to put up a picture of myself not that hard.
Do you have a digital picture of yourself?
If not come to the next meeting and we will take a picture of your beautiful self.
This is a great way to communicate with you all.
Sincerelybr /> MT
