Event Description

Be Part of a major movie release, let design festivals and public awareness around this movie, years in the making from famed movie expert Cheryl Green and her unique way of seeing thing in the world and society.  My hope is to get her up in spokane to help document all incredible things we do in spokane despite the resistance of professionals trying to brand brain injury into a industry, I think that's what I want to call the movie the resistance,

but anyway the movie "Who am i to stop it!" is amazing and all you survivors out there have the opportunity to get it into your community, create awareness for you. Listen in and call in tonight and lets brain storm how,.

Who Am I To Stop It Trailer from Cheryl Green on Vimeo.

Help the world see what brain injury is really like, learn how to book this movie in your area letw change things together

WHO AM I TO STOP IT, a film on isolation, art, and transformation, witnesses the complexities of identity and life with disabilities from traumatic brain injury (TBI). Made by a filmmaker with TBI, the film offers an intimate look into disability, sexuality, spirituality, poverty, family, and community.

Three TBI survivors use the arts to navigate and adapt to a world filled with disability stigma. WHO AM I TO STOP IT asks difficult questions around identity after rehabilitation ends. We look beyond medical aspects of TBI to explore survivors' personal narratives and passionate self-advocacy through the arts.

here is a short trailer http://vimeo.com/155924543#t=NaNs

"This film will contribute stimulating, contemporary subject matter across disciplines of the sciences, arts, and humanities."

I had asked someone last year if anyone is speaking up for our TBI survivors stuck in rehab/long term care facilities!  The only people that I could find were survivors themselves and a few family members who care.

I am so appreciative of you, Craig, and others in making this month (Brain Injury Awareness Month) awareness in what happens in some of our facilities.  So far since 1992 Congressional Hearings in 1992,  FINR, Eagle Eye Farm, Lakeview and NeuroRestorative (in Wisconsin) have been under investigations.

I too am a survivor of a traumatic head and brain-injury and self recovered. You will get info about what happened to me on my website www.jessicaetaylor.org

Take a look at the Quadriciser Rehabilitation Machine on Google. I am going to fund raise for one soon so that survivors  on Vancouver Island will get help.

I had catastrophic brain, jaw, head, and neck injuries.  And the most catastrophic of all is the loss of my reading vision.  If I read it turns into catastrophic, debilitating, destructive and painful gastritis onsets 24/7.  However, when it comes to personal injury cases; and the patient is a senior citizen with Medicare or HMO Medicare Advantage health insurance, the support and interest from doctors, healthcare providers, insurance companies and attorneys in Orange County, CA is literally lacking.  Most of their interest is, "we will help you for 6 months and then we want to collect, whether you get well with our treatments or not" attitude.  Therefore, you end up being dropped prematurely and never get well at all.  Thus, we are doomed to live in pain for the rest of our lives. Three and a half years after my auto accident, I am still on my own, no matter how many so called support medical professionals and health insurance companies I turn to, the answer is your treatments are not covered.  Or we only take PPO.  And when it comes to auto insurance settlements, if the third party only carries mi; minimum limits, and my under insured auto insurance company is not there either; again, we are ignored and neglected.  My settlement combined was about 1/10 of my losses, injuries and expenses.  Thus, I do understand how frustrating it is to become brain injuries victim with no relief in sight.
